Job Description
Bridges Prep Athletic Coaches Expectations
The role of a Bridges Prep coach extends beyond teaching skills and strategy. Coaches are leaders,educators, and role models whose conduct directly impacts the development of student-athletes, the schoolculture, and the community. All coaches are expected to uphold the following professional standards:
I. Ethical and Professional Conduct
A. Demonstrate integrity, fairness, and respect in all interactions.B. Adhere to the school's code of conduct, athletic department policies, and state athletic association regulations.C. Avoid any behavior that could be construed as abusive, discriminatory, or inappropriate.
II. Program Management/Student-Athlete DevelopmentA. Plan and conduct organized practices that emphasize skill development, conditioning, and team strategies
• B. Ensure athletes are supervised at all times during practices, games, and travel.• C. Take proper care of equipment, facilities, and uniforms, and report any damages or safety issues immediately• D. Prioritize the physical, emotional, and academic well-being of every student-athlete.• E. Promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and personal responsibility.• F. Encourage academic excellence and support classroom performance and attendance.
III. Communication
A. Maintain clear, consistent, and respectful communication with athletes, parents, school staff, andadministration
B. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.C. Provide schedules, team rules, and expectations at the beginning of each season.
IV. Collaboration
A. Work in coordination with other coaches, athletic staff, and administration to support the overall athleticprogram
B. Promote multi-sport participation and avoid scheduling conflicts that limit athlete opportunities.C. Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops.
V. Game Day Expectations
A. Exhibit professionalism on the sidelines; maintain composure and set a positive tone regardless ofgame outcomes
B. Treat opponents, officials, and spectators with courtesy and respect.C. Ensure all players exhibit sportsmanship and represent the school with pride.
VI. Safety and Compliance
A. Maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and NFHS coursesB. Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures provided by athletic trainerC. Monitor athlete eligibility and ensure compliance with academic and medical requirements.
VII. Role Modeling and Leadership
A. Be a consistent example of punctuality, preparation, and accountability.B. Uphold and enforce team rules and consequences fairly and consistently.C. Mentor student-athletes in leadership, character, and life skills.
This is a stipend paid position per season. There is no guarantee of continued coaching position for the future school years.
