Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Research Scientist, the seasonal R&D/Farm Specialist will be responsible for managing experimental farm projects, including soil and plant sampling, while ensuring high-quality data collection and record-keeping. The role also provides hands-on support for new product development by working in the pilot plant on activities such as natural product extraction, granulation, milling, and testing innovative processing methods. The position plays a key role in accelerating product development timelines, ensuring timely farm project completion, and delivering valuable data to support marketing efforts, process improvements, and the introduction of innovative agricultural crops.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sample farm crops according to growth stage and location for phytochemical analysis
- Process samples using bench-top or pilot-sized equipment as needed
- Maintain detailed records of projects and research activities
- Manage test plots on experimental farm crops at the farm.
- Coordinate send-outs with 3rd party laboratory services
- Assist other R&D employees in general product development projects and responsibilities
- Assist the farm team with general tasks during busy periods
Hours:
- Monday- Friday: 6:30am- 3:00pm
- 40 hours per week
- May- August 2026
Pay:
- $17.34/hr
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in agriculture, soil science, agronomy and/or nutrition, preferably pursuing a bachelor’s level degree
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
- Experience in using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to keep thorough records and clear field and lab notes
- Knowledge of organic farming practices
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks
- Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and convey information clearly
- Some experience working in a laboratory setting, including basic understanding of lab procedures and equipment
