What we're looking for: Friendly, motivated, and reliable individuals to be part of our seasonal Aquatics team. You will continue to successfully serve the current and future needs of the New Braunfels community. Under general supervision, cashiers assist in ensuring customer satisfaction and safety for employees and visitors to the seasonal, outdoor Parks and Recreation Department aquatic facilities, including the Landa Park Aquatic Complex, City Tube Chute, and River Booths.

The responsibilities you'll be trusted with:

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Assists in ensuring the delivery of high-quality aquatic services to the community.
  • Prepares and assists in maintaining facilities including but not limited to participating in maintenance at the City Tube Chute and Landa Park Aquatic Complex (LPAC) facilities to ensure a safe condition and to meet community needs; must be in compliance with the City's strategic objectives, policies and procedures, and State and Federal laws.
  • Assists in promoting departmental programs and city-wide special events, coordination, and setup including guest party facilitation.
  • Performing cash handling duties and point-of-sale processing at the Landa Park Aquatic Complex, City Tube Chute, or a River Booth. This includes handling fees for admissions, tube/lifejacket rentals, merchandise sales, and river fees.
  • Performing duties as an Aquatic Attraction Attendant on various aquatic attractions and assist in ensuring patron safety and rule enforcement, such as height requirements and proper riding positions on aquatic attractions.
  • Performing duties as a Tube Attendant at the City Tube Chute, assisting patrons in blowing up tubes, communicating rental policies, and following rental and return procedures.
  • Answers incoming calls and provides departmental program information in person and via the telephone; greets guests and provides prompt, courteous, and friendly customer services to the public, in order to maintain positive customer relations.
  • Assists in managing a variety of front desk activities including the processing of transactions via cash, check and credit card payment methods; operate computer registration and reservation system; data collection and preparation of attendance and sales reports.
  • Attend bi-weekly in-service training
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Your areas of knowledge and skills necessary for this role:

Education and Experience:

  • Must be fifteen (15) years of age; AND one (1) year customer service/public interaction experience is preferred.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain within two (2) weeks of employment: American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED and Blood Borne Pathogens Training.

Required Knowledge of:

  • Operational characteristics, services, and activities of an aquatics facility.
  • Principles and practices of customer service.
  • Cash, check, and credit card transaction processes

Required Skill in:

  • Interpreting customer and facility needs and solving customer service and public relations issues.
  • Analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals.
  • Responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the general public.
  • Operating and maintaining a business computer, utilizing a variety of business software and communications equipment.
  • Effective, clear, and concise communication, both verbally and in writing.

Your work environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment and outdoors in all weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, wet surfaces, pool maintenance equipment, infectious diseases, and blood-borne pathogens; is subject to sitting, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time; and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including weekdays, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings.
  • May be required to work immediately before, during, or after an emergency or disaster.
