Job Description
The Seasonal Field Technician supports field operations during peak farming seasons by assisting with the cultivation, maintenance, and harvest of essential oil crops. This role is temporary and ideal for individuals seeking agricultural experience in a team-based, outdoor environment. Technicians are expected to follow safety protocols and operational standards while contributing to the success of seasonal planting and harvest activities.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops under supervision
- Operate basic farm tools such as hoes, shovels, pitchforks, and brooms
- Support the setup and movement of irrigation equipment
- Perform basic maintenance of workspaces and tools
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards promptly
- Help with seasonal farm events or group activities as required
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Basic familiarity with farm tools and equipment
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Team player with a strong work ethic
- Reliable and punctual with good physical stamina
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 months of outdoor labor, farming, or similar physical work
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Previous experience working on a farm or in landscaping
- Knowledge of irrigation systems or seasonal crop cycles
- Experience operating basic agricultural equipment (e.g., trimmers, small tillers)
Supervisory Responsibility:
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in an agricultural setting. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to machinery. Exposure to various outdoor elements such as dust, animals, and plants is common.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is typically based on seasonal demands and may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Employees are also expected to work at least one non-convention farm event a year and to work at the annual company convention.
Exact hour requirements can be reasonably modified as necessary for the business needs by the employee's manager.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move items up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
