The State annually employs qualified responsible individuals in a variety of positions with the State's Parks, Beaches, Research Programs, and Administrative Offices during a specific limited period. Applicants will be considered for open seasonal positions based on their qualifications, availability, and willingness to travel to the assigned location (s).
Many of the classifications have a three-step pay-grade. An employee in any of these classifications is paid at the first step during his or her first season. An employee returning to the same three-step classification for a second season is paid at the second step during that season. An employee to the same three-step classification for a third or subsequent session is paid at the third step during that season.

The State is accepting online applications for available Seasonal Forest Fire Intern positions.
Illustrative Examples of Work Performed
Assist in delivering the Forest Fire Program to promote resilient landscapes and fire-adapted communities. This applicant will be required to assist fire staff with manual and technical tasks including, but not limited to, Firehose testing, cleaning and delivery/pickup; Fire equipment inventory and maintenance; Forest data collection, compilation, and recording; Conduct wildfire risk and hazard assessments. Training for required tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications for Appointment
Degree in Forestry/Forest Management, (Forest) Ecology, OR similar biological science, OR be currently enrolled in college and having had courses in those disciplines OR have equivalent field experience. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Applicant must be able to work outdoors, often in varying weather and environmental conditions. This position requires a commitment of a 35-hour work week, occasionally on a weekend, from spring through the fall, with some flexibility with scheduled work hours and start/end dates.
