Job Description

Are you looking for purpose-driven work where you can make a positive impact on communities around the world?  Committee for Children is a social enterprise dedicated to advancing the well-being of children through the development of essential human skills.

We're looking for a 1099 Independent Contractor – Second Step Workshop Facilitator to deliver high-quality professional learning experiences for educators using Second Step programs.  You'll plan and deliver engaging, interactive workshops (virtual and/or in-person) that build educator confidence and capability in implementing Second Step programs with fidelity. You will serve as a trusted learning partner for schools and districts, ensuring participants leave sessions energized, prepared, and clear on next steps for classroom or schoolwide implementation.

This role is ideal for experienced educators or professional learning facilitators who enjoy working directly with adult learners, thrive in dynamic environments, and are passionate about social-emotional learning.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Facilitate Second Step professional learning workshops for educators, counselors, administrators, and school staff, following Committee for Children's facilitation standards and content guidance.
  • Deliver workshops that are interactive, learner-centered, and responsive to participant needs, while maintaining fidelity to Second Step program design.
  • Prepare for each engagement by reviewing session objectives, participant context, and implementation goals.
  • Effectively manage group dynamics and adapt facilitation strategies in real time to support adult learning.
  • Collaborate with Committee for Children staff to confirm logistics, align on expectations, and incorporate feedback.
  • Collect and submit required session documentation, reflections, and feedback as requested.
  • Represent Committee for Children professionally and positively with all school and district partners.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience facilitating professional learning, workshops, or trainings for K–12 educators or school staff.
  • Background in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with social-emotional learning (SEL) concepts and school-based implementation.
  • Comfort delivering engaging sessions in both virtual and in-person settings (as applicable).
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with adult learners.
  • Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and reflection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to prepare independently and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in fast-paced or changing environments.
  • Comfort using common virtual facilitation tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams) and basic productivity tools.
  • Ability to travel regionally for in-person workshops, as needed.
  • This is an independent contractor role requiring variable hours per week, based on workshop demand, through a defined contract period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience delivering, implementing, or supporting Second Step® programs (digital and/or print) in a school or district setting.

Compensation ranges from $200-2,000 per training, based on delivery format, location, and logistical requirements.  Contractors may also be eligible for reimbursement of approved travel expenses and stipends for travel days, as outlined in the independent contractor agreement.

We're proudly building a more equitable workplace.

We're committed to providing a place that empowers you to bring every bit of who you are to work. When you're able to be yourself, you do your best work. It's as simple as that. And to that end, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
