Job Description

Job Position: Security & Access Control Technician

Pay Rate: $40+/hr

TradeSTAR is seeking an experienced Security & Access Control Technician to support commercial low-voltage projects in the Abilene area. This position is ideal for a senior-level technician with the ability to independently install, program, troubleshoot, and commission integrated security systems.Responsibilities Install, configure, and service commercial access control and security systems. Install and terminate card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, maglocks, and power supplies. Configure and troubleshoot IP-based access control systems and network-connected security devices. Program controllers, control panels, and software-based security platforms. Integrate access control systems with CCTV and intrusion alarm systems. Read blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and project layouts. Install low-voltage cabling, conduit, and cable pathway systems as needed. Perform system testing, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting. Complete work in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable codes. Qualifications 4+ years of commercial access control and security experience required. Experience with platforms such as LenelS2, Software House CCURE, Genetec, Avigilon, Brivo, Openpath, Gallagher, Honeywell Pro-Watch, or Verkada. Strong understanding of IP networking, relay logic, and integrated security systems. Ability to independently troubleshoot programming and system issues. Experience installing and servicing door hardware including maglocks, electric strikes, readers, and REX devices. Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documentation. Valid driver's license required.
