What MatX Is Building

MatX designs hardware tailored for the world’s best AI models. Our hardware will make a given level of intelligence available 3-5 years sooner. We are developing vertically integrated full-stack solutions from silicon to systems, including hardware and software to train and run the world’s largest models. 

This role owns end-to-end system security architecture for MatX hardware and software platforms — translating high-level security requirements into concrete, implementable designs across hardware, firmware, and software, and driving execution across teams.

What You'll Do Here

• Translate high-level security requirements into end-to-end system designs
• Author security architecture and design documents across Hardware, Firmware, and Software
• Perform system-level threat modeling and define mitigations
• Decide Hardware vs. Software security placement and evaluate tradeoffs
• Define requirements for new hardware security features when needed
• Co-design secure systems with hardware, firmware, and software teams
• Design and review secure boot, key management, and isolation mechanisms
• Lead cross-team security reviews and alignment
• Provide clear, risk-based guidance to engineering leadership

Who You Are

• 5+ years in system, hardware, or HW/SW security
• Experience defining security architectures and writing design docs
• Strong knowledge of secure boot, roots of trust, crypto, and isolation
• Proven ability to make HW/SW security tradeoffs
• Track record of leading across multiple engineering teams
• Strong coding skills in Rust and/or C/C++, with proficiency in Python
• This is a hybrid role that will require you to work from our Mountain View, CA office 3 days a week on Tuesday through Thursday

  • 0-5 years of experience - $120,000 - $200,000 + equity
  • 5-10 years of experience - $120,000 -$300,000 + equity
  • 10+ years experience - $120,000 - $400,000 + equity
