Job Description

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the incumbent monitors their assigned area providing exceptional customer service, professionally and courteously providing information and direction to guests and employees, always promoting a positive public image. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining order, observing for unusual or illegal activities, standing posts or patrolling assigned areas, checking identification of persons attempting to gain access to or are on the gaming floor, reporting persons engaged in suspicious or criminal acts and transferring money, chips and documents between designated locations. Security Officers are the first responders to incidents on property investigating and documenting the details of the incident including but not limited to altercations, accidents and injuries, customer and employee complaints and damaged or missing property. Must be 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or general education degree (GED). One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training preferred. Must successfully complete a math test and a writing sample. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs. in two hour increments (Chip Transport). Must bend and lift cash, storage boxes from gaming tables to cart (up to 50 lbs.). Must be able to deal with large numbers of guests and remain professional under stressful situations. Ability to remain calm under pressure. The environment is that of a casino floor dealing with the general public in a fast paced atmosphere with a moderate amount of noise. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English, required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must adhere to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe's Policies and Procedures.
  • Patrols or stands a post in public and secured areas to insure proper identification for admittance.
  • Transfers monies, chips and documents to designated areas.
  • Maintains order and observes for unusual or illegal activity. Reports persons engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Assists guests with information and directions; always promoting a positive public image.
  • Responds to incidents, accidents and calls for assistance.
  • Works casino podiums and/or outside rover positions as assigned.
  • Completes incident reports as required.
  • Required to successfully complete company provided training program.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Participates as a panel member on MPGE's Board of Review as needed. Must be able to work any shift and weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Education and Experience

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or general education degree (GED). One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training preferred.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee must be able to climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs. in two hour increments (Chip Transport). Must bend and lift cash, storage boxes from gaming tables to cart (up to 50 lbs.).
  • The employee must be able to cope with stressful situations. He or she must be able to push/pull heavy objects, bend and reach and may be required to use physical force in restraining people.
  • The employee must have hearing ability sufficient to clearly understand and comprehend radio transmissions and conversations with others in person and via telephone or radio transmissions. The employee must also have the ability to orally communicate effectively with other persons.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to deal with large numbers of guests and remain professional under stressful situations.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to the casino gaming area or concourse (public areas).
  • The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The environment is that of a casino floor dealing with the general public in a fast paced atmosphere with a moderate amount of noise and smoke.
