Job Description

Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator
Advanced Professional Security (APS) is seeking a dependable, technology-oriented (SOC) Operator to join our operations team.The SOC Operator serves as a central point of communication and coordination for APS security operations. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, excellent computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously in a fast-paced security environment.
Key Responsibilities
The SOC Operator will be responsible for:
  • Answering incoming telephone calls from security officers, supervisors, clients, and management.
  • Communicating professionally with security personnel using two-way radios, telephone, text, and email.
  • Monitoring CCTV/video surveillance systems and identifying activity that requires follow-up or escalation.
  • Monitoring security officer locations through GPS and guard-management systems.
  • Monitoring scheduled shifts and identifying officers who are late, absent, off post, or otherwise require follow-up.
  • Receiving employee call-offs and immediately beginning the process of locating qualified replacement personnel.
  • Coordinating with supervisors and management to arrange shift coverage after call-outs or staffing shortages.
  • Preparing accurate security, dispatch, incident, and operational reports.
  • Reviewing and monitoring incident reports to ensure required information is complete and appropriate follow-up occurs.
  • Following up on open incidents, client concerns, employee issues, staffing problems, and other operational matters until they are resolved or properly transferred to management.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of telephone calls, radio communications, incidents, staffing changes, and significant operational activities.
  • Corresponding professionally with employees, supervisors, clients, and management through email.
  • Using AI tools and other technology to improve efficiency, organize information, draft communications, summarize operational information, and assist with report preparation.
  • Escalating emergencies, serious incidents, client complaints, and other significant issues according to APS procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and ensuring important information is communicated to the appropriate department or manager.
Documentation Standard
If it is not documented, it did not happen.SOC Operators are expected to accurately document significant operational activity. Documentation must be timely, factual, professional, and detailed enough that another SOC Operator or manager can understand what occurred, what actions were taken, who was contacted, and what follow-up is still required.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have:
  • Previous experience in a Security Operations Center, dispatch center, security office, call center, monitoring center, or similar environment.
  • Experience answering and managing multiple telephone calls professionally.
  • Experience communicating over two-way radios.
  • Experience preparing written reports or incident documentation.
  • Experience with CCTV or video surveillance monitoring.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to compose professional emails.
  • Ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed during emergencies or high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and chain-of-command requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining constant communication with the operations team.
Technology Expectations
This is a technology-intensive position. Candidates must be comfortable working with multiple computer systems at the same time, including:
  • Security scheduling and workforce-management software
  • GPS and guard-location monitoring systems
  • CCTV/video surveillance platforms
  • Email and Microsoft Office applications
  • Electronic incident and security reporting systems
  • Telephone and radio communication systems
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) productivity tools
Candidates who are uncomfortable working extensively with computers, software, email, and electronic reporting systems may not be a good fit for this position.

The ideal SOC Operator is someone who is organized, accountable, calm under pressure, technologically capable, and persistent about follow-up.
We are looking for someone who does not simply receive information—they take ownership of making sure the information is documented, communicated, escalated when necessary, and followed through to completion.Compensation Details:This position is considered an hourly, non-exempt full-time role.
