Summary:

As a Security Systems Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, program, and upgrade commercial security systems, including intrusion, fire, CCTV, and access. This role requires advanced expertise in evaluating system malfunctions, supporting both hardwired and wireless security solutions, and resolving complex technical issues, including network-related problems and basic system integrations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with current and legacy security and fire platforms, as well as a working knowledge of video surveillance systems, and strong communication skills. In addition to providing technical leadership, the Senior Service Technician mentors junior technicians, shares technical knowledge and best practices, and helps enhance the overall capabilities of the branch and service team.

Responsibilities:

  • Service commercial systems:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion alarms, intercoms, and related low-voltage systems.
  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner to resolve customer issues and minimize system downtime.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and system testing to ensure optimal performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Inspect, replace, and upgrade system components, devices, and equipment as required.
  • Program and configure security systems, controllers, cameras, readers, and associated software platforms.
  • Document service activities, repairs, maintenance findings, and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status, repair options, and service recommendations.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with field supervisors, dispatch, and technical support teams to resolve complex service issues.
  • Maintain inventory of service parts, tools, and equipment necessary to complete assigned work orders.
  • Provide customer training and technical guidance on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Identify and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and additional services to improve security and system performance.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, products, and best practices within the electronic security industry.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency service response as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent - required.
  • 3 - 5 years of industry experience - preferred.
  • Field Service Operations:
  • Minimum of 2 years responding to scheduled service calls and emergency dispatches, carrying out necessary low-voltage wiring repairs and hardware replacements.
  • Experience servicing commercial access control, Fire Systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, and integrated security systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with both electronic security and IP network environments.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, networking fundamentals, and security software platforms.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls effectively.
  • Certification/License:
  • State Licensing - required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • ESA Certified Alarm Technician Level 2 or equivalent - preferred.
  • NICET Level I - preferred.
  • Communication:
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with various individuals professionally to provide superior customer service.
  • Technical:
  • Must be able to understand the technical functionality of various systems learned via hands-on instruction.
  • Able to demonstrate proficient understanding of the hardware and panel writing of the required manufacturers.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturers such as alarm.com, Bosch, DSC, DMP, Honeywell, FireLite, Potter, Brivo, Silent Knight, Hanwha, Hikvision.
