The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport.USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers.We are focused on growing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sport of rowing on a national scale, on increasing support for our national team programs, and providing additional benefits and value to our over 77,000 individual members and 1,430 rowing organizations.What We OfferThe Selection Development Camp Athlete Development Contractor plays a key role in supporting the daily operations and athlete experience at the Selection Development Camp, with a strong emphasis on athlete development and high-performance environments. Working closely with coaching and operations staff, this role helps create a structured, safe, and growth-oriented camp experience for emerging national-level athletes. Responsibilities include coordinating athlete activities, supporting daily schedules, ensuring athletes follow camp expectations, and serving as a consistent point of support throughout the camp experience. This role is essential to helping athletes feel supported, connected, and set up for success during their time at camp as well as during their racing experience in the International Rowing Challenge.Responsibilities
  • Athlete Supervision & Support: Provide consistent, hands-on support for athlete well-being, safety, and professionalism throughout the full duration of camp. Maintain an active daily presence from the start of camp through departure, assisting with athlete movement and transportation logistics between training, housing, and competition venues. Serve as a primary, visible resource for athletes, fostering a positive, accountable, and growth-oriented environment.
  • Athlete Development Leadership: Collaborate closely with the Director of Camps and Camp Coaches to design and implement athlete development strategies. Facilitate sessions and activities that support technical growth, learning, and daily improvement. Model and reinforce expectations around coachability, effort, professionalism, and high-performance habits.
  • Camp Operations & Administration: Provide hands-on support for daily camp scheduling, logistics, and administration from camp setup through breakdown. Assist with the planning and execution of all camp activities and the International Rowing Challenge. Proactively identify and resolve operational or programmatic challenges as they arise to ensure a seamless, high-quality camp experience from beginning to end.
Qualifications
  • Enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with a strong interest in athlete development and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex camp logistics with precision, organization, and accountability. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • USRowing Level 1 Coach Certification required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-performance camp environment.
  • Previous experience in rowing, coaching, or camp operations preferred.
  • Must be available for 3–5 required pre-camp virtual meetings and training sessions.
  • Availability for the full duration of the Selection Development Camp from June 17-July 12.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and sustaining prolonged physical activity (e.g., standing, walking, moving equipment)
