Senior Accountant, Fund Accounting & Financial ReportingLocation: Austin, TX  Compensation: Low to mid $90,000s, with flexibility to go higher for the right candidateEmployment Type: Full-TimeOpportunity Overview Our client is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join a highly stable accounting team with a history of very low turnover. This position is a backfill opportunity and offers the chance to work across fund accounting, financial reporting, investor reporting, valuations, and audit support within a collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional coming from public accounting, preferably a Big 4 or similar firm, who is ready to transition into an industry role while continuing to build expertise in sophisticated financial reporting and real estate investment accounting. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of accounting experience, including at least two public accounting busy seasons, with a strong background in audit. Previous experience working with real estate clients is highly preferred.What You Will Be Doing The Senior Accountant will support the client cross-functionally by preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, lender and investor reporting deliverables, and quarterly valuation reviews for internal management, portfolio management, lenders, and investors. Depending on department structure, this position will report to the Controller, Assistant Controller, Manager, or Accounting Supervisor.Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly fund reporting packages.
  • Prepare GAAP financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, and statements of changes in equity for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual lender and investor reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare investor NAV statements and supporting calculations for capital activity and allocations.
  • Review third-party appraisals and internal valuation models, including discounted cash flow, DCF, analyses and key assumptions, supporting quarterly fair value financial reporting.
  • Review contracts associated with fund reporting to ensure accounting and reporting are accurate and complete.
  • Prepare financial analyses explaining material month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter movements.
  • Prepare journal entries to accurately record financial activity.
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations.
  • Prepare wire requests for distributions and other ad hoc cash requirements.
  • Prepare annual audit reports, work papers, and supporting schedules.
  • Partner with external auditors to ensure general ledger accounts are properly supported and documented for the annual audit.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate requests and ensure the timely flow of information supporting financial reporting and analysis.
  • Support automation initiatives and special projects designed to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
  • Perform additional accounting and financial reporting duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong accounting, financial reporting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Highly Preferred
  • Public accounting experience, preferably Big 4.
  • Audit experience.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience with two completed busy seasons.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience supporting real estate clients, particularly rental property or real estate investment organizations.
  • Experience with Yardi and Workiva.
  • Experience reviewing valuations, appraisals, or DCF models.
  • Interest in or experience using AI, automation, or emerging technologies to improve accounting workflows and reporting processes.
