Job Description
Talis Group’s client is a rapidly growing construction company specializing in complex, high-visibility projects throughout the Kentuckiana region. As their business continues to expand they are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to support their financial leadership and help drive operational excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and wants to play a key role in the financial operations of a growing construction organization.
Senior Accountant will work closely with and fully support the Controller in managing the company’s accounting and financial reporting processes. This role will have significant responsibility across all day to day accounting, including payroll, tax compliance, and monthly financial reporting, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information across the organization. This position would also work as back-up for Accounts Receiving and AIA billing on large projects.
Highlighted Duties:
- Assist with daily accounting operations and departmental needs
- Support certified union payroll processing in compliance with prevailing wage requirements
- Manage payroll tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timely compliance
- Prepare and support business tax filings and related reporting
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports for construction projects
- Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Maintain and adhere to strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate job cost tracking
- Provide direct support to the Controller on financial operations, reporting, and special projects
- Serve as backup support for AIA billing processes on major projects
Highlighted Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting strongly preferred)
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience in manufacturing accounting may also be relevant
- Experience with certified payroll, job costing, or WIP reporting is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing organization
