Senior Accountant with Non-profit Government Accounting

Position Overview:The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, reconciliations, budget support, and compliance activities for a City Government organization while ensuring adherence to governmental accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:● Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.● Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.● Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.● Support budget development, forecasting, and financial planning processes.● Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards, policies, and procedures.● Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.● Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.● Collaborate with department leaders to support fiscal management and reporting needs.● Monitor expenditures and revenues to ensure budgetary compliance.
Qualifications:● Required: Municipal, county, or state government accounting or finance experience.● Experience with governmental accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and account reconciliations.● Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and financial controls.● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field.● CPA or CPA-track candidates are preferred but not required.● Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
