Procon seeks an experienced Senior Architect/Engineer to serve as the lead technical construction management professional supporting a healthcare modernization program in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Senior Architect/Engineer will support staff throughout design, construction, commissioning, and project closeout. The position will provide technical oversight of construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications, standards, applicable codes, project requirements, quality expectations, budgets, and established schedules.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting complex healthcare, federal, institutional, or similarly technical construction projects and possess a strong understanding of construction management, architectural and engineering coordination, building systems, quality assurance, and construction administration. This role requires various skills and experience as listed below.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Licensed Professional Architect or Professional Engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related accredited discipline. Significant directly related experience may substitute for educational requirements where permitted by contract requirements.
- Minimum of six (6) years of combined design and construction experience.
- Experience managing or supporting facility construction projects involving design coordination, construction oversight, cost control, scheduling, and project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience supporting projects of comparable size, complexity, and technical requirements.
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contract documents, and construction administration processes.
- Ability to coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams with diverse technical backgrounds.
- Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and project documentation systems.
- Working knowledge of building systems, applicable codes, scheduling, budgeting, cost management, and project controls.
- Experience with healthcare, medical facility, hospital, federal, or similarly complex construction projects preferred.
- Familiarity with VA Technical Information Library (TIL), healthcare facility requirements, OSHA standards, and Joint Commission requirements preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead construction management and project oversight activities throughout design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, milestones, phasing, and overall construction progress.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change requests, and other project documentation.
- Perform and oversee field inspections to ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Identify construction deficiencies, design conflicts, schedule risks, and other project issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, facility personnel, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Conduct design and constructability reviews and provide technical recommendations.
- Review contractor payment applications, change orders, cost forecasts, and schedule impacts.
- Support testing, commissioning, project acceptance, and closeout activities.
- Prepare project reports, maintain documentation, facilitate meetings, and track action items through resolution.
