This role is part of Weber Shandwick's healthcare practice, where we provide strategic communications counsel to help clients navigate complex challenges and stay relevant in an ever-changing landscape. We are looking for someone who is passionate about healthcare and public health and interested in strategic communications.

In this role, you will help execute integrated communications, and reputation management strategies for high-profile clients navigating the complex intersection of science, business, policy, media, and culture. You will be a vital member of account teams, driving projects forward from ideation to execution while developing a deep understanding of our clients' priorities and headwinds they navigate.

You are a fast learner and a proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels in project management, writing, and communications with the ability to translate needs into action.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrated Campaign Development & Execution: Support the development and execution of integrated communications campaigns across paid, earned, and owned channels, contributing to strategic planning, integrated team management, campaign activation, and performance optimization. Participate in earned media efforts, including media monitoring and social listening, as needed.
  • Content Development: Draft strategic communications and key messaging frameworks that translate various healthcare topics into clear, compelling, and audience-relevant messaging.
  • Audience Insights & Strategic Analysis: Conduct research and synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings, audience insights, environmental scans, and program data into actionable recommendations that inform communications strategies, message development, and campaign planning.
  • Strategic Ideation: Actively participate in team brainstorms, bringing fresh, culturally resonant ideas to the table to advance client priorities.
  • Client Experience & Account Support: Support account management by coordinating team and client meetings; developing status reports, agendas, and minutes; and helping to manage and track deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations or public health (agency or government contract experience a strong plus).
  • A strong understanding of the healthcare landscape.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate complex, scientific topics into clear, compelling narratives for various audiences.
  • Experience working with/supporting cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in a communications related area.

Competencies:

  • Public Health & Policy Acumen: A drive to stay current on evolving public health priorities, federal policies, regulatory developments, and emerging issues to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and inform strategic communications and engagement efforts.
  • Strategic & Analytical Mindset: Ability to synthesize complex research, data, audience insights, and environmental trends into actionable recommendations that connect individual findings to broader communication and campaign objectives.
  • Detail-Oriented Execution: A commitment to delivering clear, accurate, and high-quality work across all aspects of project execution, from reviewing content and campaign materials to managing deliverables and reporting.
  • Agility, Poise & Proactivity: A proven ability to manage multiple integrated workstreams under tight deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and navigate complex stakeholder environments while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and client organizations to develop and execute integrated communications strategies and campaigns.
