Job Description

Asset management and operations span a wide range of activities all directed toward the same goal: maximizing the profitability of the assets. Excellence in asset management and operations enables us to deliver on our commitments to our partners at the same time. The Senior Associate Wind Technician or Assistant Facility Manager (job title is determined based on level of relevant experience) is integral to help the Facility Manager achieve this goal. 

This position will assist the Facility Manager oversee all aspects of operations and maintenance at Scout’s Nimbus wind generating facility (NIM), including wind turbines, medium and high voltage substation equipment, electrical collection systems, and balance-of-plant responsibilities. 

This position will report to the Facility Manager. 

Responsibilities 

  • Deliver optimal performance of the on-site assets while ensuring compliance and safety. 
  • Execute, and suggest improvements to operational and safety programs, procedures, and policies to achieve or improve key performance metrics, including safety, profitability, and efficiency.  
  • Assist in the developing, overseeing, and executing facility schedules including maintenance and upkeep on generating equipment and substation equipment.
  • Assist the Facility Manager when working with the Asset Management Team to establish facility operating budget and budget forecasts. 
  • Support the Facility Manager in ensuring compliance with all aspects of relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental, NERC/FERC, and local laws and requirements.  
  • Serve as our backup relationship manager with project stakeholders, including landowners, local governments, utilities, contractors, and regulators when the Facility Manager is not available or off site.
  • Support and perform maintenance on non-generating site infrastructure equipment including site roads, vehicles, and tooling.
  • When tasked by the Facility Manager, oversee contractor performance, submit warranty claims and work scope deviation claims as necessary. 
  • Ensure the safety of all on-site personnel.  
  • Engage with the Scout team. 
  • Whenever tasked by the Facility Manager, proactively update the Asset Management team on key issues. 
  • Share proven practices with peers at other facilities.  
  • Contribute to special projects upon request. 
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Facility Manager. 

Requirements

  • Certification in a relevant field or comparable work experience. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in operations and maintenance of a wind energy facility, preferably GE 2.X or larger wind turbines.
  • Minimum of three years of experience supervising direct reports or contractors. 
  • Good quantitative analytical skills and demonstrated proficiency in Excel. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 
  • Comfortable working at heights and the ability to perform essential physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation; this includes climbing 300' wind turbines, lifting 50 lbs. above your head, and meeting the weight requirement of onsite equipment (310 lbs. or less). 
  • Occasional travel is required. 
  • Preferred: Good general knowledge of substation and medium voltage equipment. 
  • Preferred: Experience and/or certifications with GE Cypress Series Wind Turbines.

Timeline and Location 

Scout aims to fill this role as soon as possible, with a proposed start date at the beginning of June 2026. 

Our ideal candidate lives within Carroll County, Arkansas, or is willing to relocate within 1 hour driving distance of the facility; onsite presence is required.
