Senior Capital Project Engineer - Blue Ash, OH
The Senior Capital Project Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of projects in alignment with the Long Range Plan (LRP) and operating needs of the Steelcraft Cincinnati Operations. This role involves developing, scoping, and installing capital projects using extensive knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. In this role you will coordinate and direct activities of fixed duration to ensure that the goals or objectives are accomplished within the determined timeframe and budget.

What You Will Do:
- Plans and conducts small to medium sized capital projects within an engineering specialty and through all aspects of the project life cycle including scope development, cost estimating, execution planning, preparation of requests for capital expenditure, design, procurement, construction, cost/schedule control, commissioning, qualification, operator training, startup, and financial closeout.
- Responsible for the successful completion of projects within the stated parameters of scope, cost, and schedule with the assurance that all functional, regulatory, end-user, and good engineering practice requirements are met.
- Monitors project progress to plan and implements corrective actions or contingencies as needed to maintain commitments. Provides management with regular project status updates and variances to plan.
- Develop and maintain a capital project pipeline.
- Create and manage project budgets, ensuring timely and on-budget installations.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
- Leads the design of process equipment, facilities, and utilities by applying standard engineering theories, concepts, and techniques. Leads the procurement and installation of process equipment through development of equipment specifications to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
- Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other information to facilitate process design.
- Collaborate with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for equipment, material purchases, and parts. Complete the Capital Expenditure Request (CER).
- Evaluate projects based on specifications and quality standards.
- Research compliance regulations and develop project implementation plans.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to process engineers.
- Act as a lead or first-level supervisor, delegating duties as required.
- Conduct budget reviews with peers and management.
- Develop and hold project review and update meetings with relevant parties to acquire funding and communicate progress throughout the project life cycle.
- Supports the commissioning and qualification of equipment, facilities and utilities including development of user/system/functional requirement specifications and execution of installation and operational qualification protocols
- Assist Allegion in achieving environmental, health, safety, and energy (EHS&E) goals by working safely, participating in Process Hazard Analysis and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), complying with process safety management of change procedures, and observing all corporate and department safety policies.
- Provides technical support for the manufacturing plant including troubleshooting of equipment problems, performing root cause analysis, and identifying corrective actions.
- Support Allegion quality policies through engineering support of investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
What You Need to Succeed:
- A Bachelors Degree (required) in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (preferred discipline), science or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 7+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience. Additional post-graduate education may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
- Demonstrated track record of execution of Capital Projects in excess of 5 million USD.
- Possesses a working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Perform work under minimal supervision, handling complex issues and referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment.
- Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
- CAD Proficiency
- Experience with Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with Facilities Infrastructure (Switchgears, Bus Duct, Compressed Air, etc.)
