Job Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer collaborates closely with Architects, Aquatics Designers / Engineers, and Landscape Architects to create site design projects that meet client expectations. Senior Engineers develop site design solutions for a variety of projects across the Midwest including, but not limited to, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. Project types include civic, athletic, ecology / conservation, land development and urban design projects. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor project staff through the successful completion of projects. Additionally, the Senior Engineer will actively contribute to the growth of site and land development at JEO. This position provides opportunities for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead project teams, develop thoughtful and intentional design solutions, and ensure project goals are met.
  • Develop project scope, fees, and schedules.
  • Create construction plans and develop project specifications.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Coordinate, inspect, and oversee construction activities.
  • Build strong client relationships.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts and proposal preparation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Experience with land and site development, including civil engineering design for commercial, residential, and industrial sites.
  • Knowledge of state, county, and municipal ordinances, policies, and standards related to grading, drainage, street improvements, subdivision, and land use regulations, grading & storm water permitting.
  • 10+ years of experience in site-civil design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) – Licensed in Nebraska or Kansas with ability to gain licensure in others.
