Job Description
Senior Construction Estimator- Healthcare Construction GC - Base Salary to 220k/year- Goldens Bridge, NY
- Our client is a large commercial general contractor with over 50 years of experience delivering complex construction projects throughout the tri-state area. This role is based in Goldens Bridge, NY and focuses on leading estimating, bid strategy, preconstruction, and buyout for large-scale commercial projects, including healthcare, institutional, public sector, education, senior living, multifamily, and life sciences construction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor an estimating team of 4 estimators and 1 estimating assistant, with increasing responsibility for department oversight
- Lead bid strategy for complex commercial construction projects, including ground-up projects exceeding $100M
- Manage $60M-$100M in annual estimating volume, with planned department growth to $150M annually
- Download bid documents and maintain bid documentation
- Review bid submission requirements, including bonding, insurance, MWBE, and public agency requirements
- Collaborate with preconstruction teams, architects, engineers, and design consultants
- Attend pre-bid meetings as required
- Review project scope, develop subcontractor and vendor bid lists, and manage subcontractor solicitation
- Perform electronic quantity takeoffs, conceptual estimating, detailed cost estimating, and unit pricing
- Develop preliminary construction schedules
- Review estimates with department leadership
- Level subcontractor and vendor proposals against project scope
- Lead full project buyout, including subcontractor selection, proposal preparation, and bid submission
- Respond to post-bid questions
- Develop value engineering and cost savings recommendations
- Attend post-bid meetings
- Perform detailed scope reviews and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders
- Maintain buyout documentation
- Prepare turnover documentation for Operations
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of commercial general contracting or construction management estimating experience
- Experience estimating multimillion-dollar commercial construction projects for a large general contractor
- Strong public sector estimating experience, including NYS and NYC public agency projects
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing estimating teams
- Experience leading bid strategy, subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and full project buyout
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and unit pricing
- Strong financial, mathematical, and construction cost analysis skills
- Ability to work from the Goldens Bridge office on a daily basis
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 160k – 220k/year range
- Health insurance programs 100% paid for employee by company
- 2 weeks PTO to start
