Description

Take the next step in your controls engineering career with an established industrial manufacturing organization developing sophisticated automation solutions for complex machinery. In this Senior Controls Engineer (Software) opportunity in Pawcatuck, CT, you’ll design, program, test, and commission advanced industrial control systems while collaborating with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, service, and field teams.

Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Controls Engineer (Software) position include:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related 4-year engineering discipline with 5–8 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year technical degree with approximately 10 years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or automated machinery design.
Strong PLC programming experience using Rockwell Logix Designer and Siemens TIA Portal.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting VFDs, including Yaskawa and Allen-Bradley PowerFlex drives.
Extensive HMI/SCADA development experience with platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME/SE, GE iFIX, AVEVA InTouch, or AVEVA Edge.
Strong understanding of industrial control system networking, engineering documentation, version control, and code management practices.
Design and review control system and industrial network architectures for complex automated equipment.
Develop PLC programs using IEC 61131-3 languages, including ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.
Design and develop HMI applications for machine control, monitoring, diagnostics, and operator interfaces.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams throughout equipment design, integration, testing, and deployment.
Support testing and field service teams with system integration, troubleshooting, shipment preparation, startup, and commissioning activities.
Ability to travel occasionally for customer-site commissioning and technical support, approximately 20%.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
