About Us

EverQuote is a leading AI-powered growth solutions partner for regulated property and casualty insurance entities, enabling the largest insurance carriers and thousands of agents to maximize customer acquisition across digital channels. Fueled by our proprietary data assets and our AI traffic engine, EverQuote is transforming the way providers attract and engage consumers to grow market share.

Joining our team puts you at the forefront of this transformation. You will collaborate with a group of builders to solve complex problems and reshape a massive industry. If you want to drive real-world impact and do the best work of your career, you’ve found your home. We move fast, follow the data, and hold ourselves to high standards. If that's how you work too, this is the role for you.

About the Role

EverQuote is looking for a seasoned Senior Counsel to join our in-house legal team. This is a dual-focus role: you will manage active litigation matters and build/maintain a best-in-class marketing compliance program. You will serve as a trusted advisor to our marketing, sales, and product teams while directing outside litigation counsel on complex disputes.

What You’ll Do

Litigation

  • Oversee and direct outside counsel on class actions, regulatory investigations, and related commercial disputes
  • Develop litigation strategy, review filings, manage discovery, and attend key hearings as needed
  • Manage litigation budgets and outside counsel relationships with a focus on cost efficiency
  • Maintain accurate reporting on case status, risk exposure, and reserves

Marketing Compliance

  • Own and continuously improve the company's marketing compliance program, including TCPA, CAN-SPAM and FCC compliance
  • Monitor regulatory developments (FCC, FTC, state AGs) and update policies proactively
  • Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments of new and existing marketing campaigns
  • Develop and deliver training to internal stakeholders

What You Bring to the Team (Qualifications)

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing
  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, with meaningful time in consumer protection law
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-party litigation with outside counsel
  • Deep familiarity with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, FCC regulations, and state-level consumer protection statutes
  • Experience advising on digital and direct marketing compliance
  • Strong judgment — ability to give clear, practical guidance under regulatory uncertainty
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership
  • Team attitude and willingness to assist with other legal team members as needed even if outside core focus (e.g. help cover/support contract review, employment matters, compliance, etc.)

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • Experience with insurance regulatory environment
  • Prior in-house experience, especially at a company with a large consumer marketing operation
  • Familiarity with consent management platforms or marketing automation tools
  • Experience with state privacy laws (CCPA, etc.) as they intersect with marketing
