Job Description
Position: Senior Custom Crop ApplicatorLocation: Hastings, NE Pay Rate: $20 27/hour (based on experience)Employment Type: Full-TimeShift: Seasonal hours;extended hours during agronomy season (days, nights & weekends)Job SummaryThe Senior Custom Crop Applicator plays a critical role in supporting local farmers by safely and accurately applying fertilizers and crop protection products. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, values independence, and has strong technical knowledge of custom crop application. Hours can be long and variable during peak agronomy season with opportunities for overtime and some downtime during harvest.Key Responsibilities
- Apply liquid and dry fertilizers and crop protection chemicals according to agronomic recommendations and label directions
- Operate and maintain liquid sprayers, floaters, and related application equipment
- Utilize variable rate technology, GPS guidance systems, and application software
- Load and unload inbound and outbound fertilizer and chemical inventory
- Maintain accurate application records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Assist with Grain and Agronomy Operations as needed
- Provide dependable, timely service to farmers, including applications during nights and weekends when required
- During slower periods, assist with truck driving or other operational needs
- High School Diploma, GED, and/or relevant training required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in custom liquid crop application
- Proven experience operating liquid sprayers (required)
- Experience and knowledge in applying dry fertilizers (required)
- Strong understanding of product blends, fertilizer, and chemical application practices
- Valid Driver s License required
- Valid Commercial Applicator s License required
- CDL is a plus
- Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends during peak season
