Job Description Summary
The Liaison Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for both technical work direction and leadership of teams in the Generator Rotor CoE Engineering team. The liaison engineer drives technical decisions and documentation associated with new unit factory production. The engineer will also support Schenectady engineering team with coordination of services opportunities including exchange fields. The engineer will work cross-functionally and collaboratively within Engineering, Global Supply Chain, and Sourcing organizations to contribute to world-class Generator rotor products with a focus on expected factory qualifications and expansion projects.Job Description
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
- Guide and mentor rotor CoE engineers toward technical excellence by ensuring proper use of approved tools and analysis, with a deep focus on product quality requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Rotor CoE Manager to ensure actions and issues are addressed in a timely manner and team members are meeting their listed priorities.
- Define new unit requisition activities through engineering release meeting interpretation and communication.
- Interface with Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Vendors to ensure engineering intent and quality is met
- Support Cost Out, cycle reduction, and product quality enhancement projects.
- Possess an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of the Generator Design and manufacturing processes.
- Establish and maintain relationships with required external and internal interfaces to ensure that customer requirements are understood and being fully achieved.
- Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness of CoE to customer/business needs
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years’ design experience in Power Generation with a focus on manufacturing processes and design intent implementation
- Demonstrated success in leading and working with cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to build and energize high-performance teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive change
- Customer focused mindset
