Senior Design Specialist (Piping)

Seeking a Senior Design Specialist (Piping) to support our client in Greenville, SC.

NOTE: US Citizenship is required to perform this contract.

Requirements:   

1. The Contractor will provide essential technical knowledge and perform design work as described below. This position serves as a staff designer performing assignments of intermediate complexity.
2. Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor, prepare and check designs of intermediate complexity utilizing 3D modeling and 2D Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) automation tools
3. Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
4. Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures
5. Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines
6. Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations
7. Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including review of vendor submittals
8. Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes
9. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:   

1. Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with demonstrated experience with computer-aided
2. Use drafting applications to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision
3. 3D modeling experience required (S3D preferred)
4. Read, interpret and generate design drawings with minimal input from a member of the engineering staff
5. Must have the ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate minor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct junior drafters
6. Must have a working knowledge of federal (including Department of Energy Orders), state, and local codes and standards applicable to specialized (nuclear or other areas) engineering design
7. Background and experience must include drafting/designer experience in engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection, or civil
8. Nuclear or large industrial EPC experience preferred
9. Must be able to complete Piping Designer Skills and Experience Self-Assessment Form

Education: Must have a minimum of an associate degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred)
