Job Description

DevOps Engineer (Senior Level)

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD Salary Range: $170,000 – $190,000

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep experience designing, building, and supporting scalable, secure infrastructure and deployment pipelines in cloud-based environments. This role supports complex, mission-critical systems and requires strong expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD automation. The ideal candidate is highly technical, self-driven, and comfortable collaborating across mid- to large-sized engineering teams.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide optimization and automation across multiple platforms and applications

  • Drive consistency and standardization for build, deployment, and release processes

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable delivery

  • Work closely with development, security, and operations teams to support Agile and DevOps practices

  • Build and manage cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes

  • Translate customer and product requirements into production-ready infrastructure and automation solutions

  • Contribute to system reliability, scalability, performance, and security

  • Actively share knowledge, mentor team members, and participate in technical collaboration

Required Technical Skills

  • Cloud Platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), including S3, EC2, VPCs & Networking, ECS/EKS

  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes (k8s), container registries

  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform and/or CloudFormation

  • CI/CD: Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions

  • Automation & Scripting: Python, Bash, Ruby (or similar scripting languages)

  • Operating Systems: Linux

  • Experience working on large, demonstrable projects, preferably hosted in AWS environments

Experience Requirements

  • Fifteen (15) years of experience as a Systems Engineer or DevOps Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university

    OR

  • Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

Additional Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and DevOps best practices

  • Self-driven, proactive learner with a collaborative team mindset

  • Ability to work in a secure environment

  • CWIP IAT Level I certification required
