About The Role
The Senior Director, Operations Finance is a pivotal role at The Real Real serving as the strategic finance partner to the SVP, Operations and their leadership team who are responsible for driving operational excellence and efficiency while fulfilling supply and demand for an industry-leading high growth luxury marketplace. You will be responsible for leading the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis functions for the Inbound, Outbound, Transportation, Consignor/Customer Relations, and Facilities and Asset Protection functional areas including oversight to Packaging and Shrink.
Working closely with the Operations leadership teams, this role will provide critical financial insights and decision support, optimizing for both short-term and long-term financial performance as well as ensuring alignment between financial goals and business objectives. The ideal candidate will be strategically oriented, highly analytical with a bias towards action, growth minded by leading with curiosity, thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, and have strong leadership skills with an executive presence. This role reports into the Senior Vice President, Finance.

Act as a strategic thought partner to the SVP, Operations and leadership team collaborating to develop a financial operating plan to meet the needs of The RealReal's dynamic, high-growth marketplace
Provide insightful financial analysis, including scenario modeling, business case development, capital expense ROI, and various variance analysis to support strategic decisions.
Prepare and present financial reporting to Operations leadership, their teams, and other key stakeholders; ensuring transparency and accuracy in analysis anchoring on operational KPIs and unit economics results and trends.
Partner with the Operations Leadership team to build robust strategic and financial models quantifying the return on capital investments in facilities and automation; monitor these initiatives from initiation to completion
Lead the development of the Operations annual budget and ongoing forecasts, providing accurate, clear, and timely financial information; clearly articulating risks and opportunities
Support the Operations team with operating and planning forecasts for Packaging, Transportation, Supplies, Returns and other similar business operating metrics
Serve as a critical member of the extended finance leadership team, collaborating with FP&A, Growth Finance and Analytics to provide comprehensive financial support on operational decisions
Lead and/or participate in efforts to improve the financial planning processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Lead and develop a team of 2-3 financial analysts supporting Operations
What You Bring To The Role
Minimum Requirements:
12+ years of progressive Finance experience working directly with executives and leading teams.
Proven experience in budget development and management, financial modeling, forecasting, strategic planning, and working effectively with cross-functional partners.
Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace skills; experience with automation in Excel and/or Google Sheets preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial concepts for non-financial business partners.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions and work with a wide range of stakeholders.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting; MBA is a plus
Corporate experience in the tech, manufacturing, and/or retail industries
Prior experience leading finance support for Operations, Warehousing, Supply Chain or Manufacturing functions
Expertise with ERP Systems, forecasting tools, and business analytics tools (NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and/or Looker experience is a plus)

The expected salary range for this role is $190,000-$230,000. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate's skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR's total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
