The Senior Director, Government Affairs (Oversight and Investigations) will be responsible for working with colleagues across Government Affairs, UHG Legal and the Company to manage Congressional and state oversight matters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Driving strategy and management of federal, Congressional and state oversight inquiries and ongoing scrutiny of health care markets working in partnership with colleagues in Legal, Communications and the Business to ensure timely, accurate and strategically aligned responses
  • Providing strategic direction, leadership and oversight to internal and external resources on high-profile and time sensitive federal and state oversight-related matters, including supporting the development of any written and oral testimony
  • Liaising with Legal to manage document productions and written responses to oversight inquiries, as well as staff briefings and response to general Congressional inquiries
  • Developing executive briefing materials, talking points, executive updates and presentations Partnering with federal Government Affairs colleagues and Legal to facilitate executive-level meetings with federal policymakers and staff regarding oversight matters
  • Anticipating and monitoring federal and state oversight trends that may materially impact the Company
  • Supports coordination of responses to federal and state investigations, including engagement with agencies such as DOJ, HHS OIG, and state Attorneys General, in partnership with Legal
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of processes, systems and tools used to manage and track oversight matters
  • Contributing to effective advocacy efforts to advance and protect the Company's objectives at the federal level

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of legal, political or government affairs and strategic communications experience on Capitol Hill, at a law firm or consulting firm managing Congressional oversight for clients, or as Committee staff or Agency staff
  • Experience developing and executing successful oversight management strategies
  • Deep knowledge of Congressional Oversight Process and political dynamics and understanding of reputational risks and intersection of policy, politics, communications, relationship management
  • Proven outstanding written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to consistently prepare high-quality, time-sensitive internal and external deliverables
  • Proven solid detail orientation and ability to consistently manage projects and/or contribute to activities with the highest degree of quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
  • Proven excellent interpersonal, relationship, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proven existing relationships and credibility with Congressional oversight entities
  • Demonstrated ability to pivot and quickly adapt in response to changes in the external environment or company priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD
  • Experience or background in the health care industry or another highly regulated environment
  • Understanding of the health care policy, advocacy and industry landscapes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $159,300 - $273,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
