Job Description

Weyerhaeuser is a leader in sustainable forestry and wood products, dedicated to innovation and operational excellence. As Senior Director of Data Management reporting to the Vice President of AI and Data, you will be accountable for building a customer-driven data foundation that powers Weyerhaeuser's operations, AI initiatives, and digital transformation. You will lead the creation of trusted, governed, and reusable data assets that unlock measurable business value - from EBITDA impact to customer experience.

This role leads the enterprise data platform, data engineering, data products, and governance capabilities that underpin Weyerhaeuser's commercial and operational performance. The Senior Director will architect and scale a cohesive data ecosystem that integrates business systems, manufacturing telemetry, and geospatial datasets into reliable, reusable, AI-ready data products. The mandate is to strengthen data reliability, increase decision speed, enable advanced analytics and AI driven capabilities, and tie platform investments directly to measurable financial and operational outcomes, including pricing precision, demand forecasting, supply chain optimization, manufacturing performance, and forest intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Strategy and Leadership

  • You will define and advance the enterprise data architecture that underpins analytics, AI, and intelligent automation across Weyerhaeuser.

  • Establish a cohesive architecture integrating ERP systems, manufacturing telemetry, and geospatial datasets into a unified enterprise model

  • Standardize ingestion and modeling patterns across batch, streaming, and industrial environments

  • Reduce fragmentation and increase reuse of enterprise data assets

  • Ensure the platform operates with reliability, performance, security, and cost discipline

  • Rationalize legacy pipelines and promote scalable enterprise data services

Commercial & Operational Enablement

  • Data must directly improve financial performance and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with business leaders to prioritize and deliver capabilities that strengthen margin, throughput, and decision velocity.

  • Enable governed, enterprise-wide pricing and margin analytics

  • Improve demand forecasting, logistics performance, and inventory positioning

  • Strengthen manufacturing uptime and asset reliability through standardized industrial data integration

  • Support land valuation, sustainability analytics, and alternative revenue modeling

  • Translate platform investments into demonstrable contribution to profitability

AI & Intelligent Automation Enablement

  • Predictive analytics, generative AI, and intelligent automation are critical to Weyerhaeuser's growth. In this role, you will ensure that our enterprise data foundations enable scalable, production-grade deployment of these capabilities.

  • Collaborate with AI solution teams to define reliable data contracts, feature pipelines, and production data standards

  • Enable deployment of predictive ML models supporting forecasting, optimization, and reliability analytics

  • Provide governed semantic layers and trusted enterprise data to support generative AI applications and enterprise agents

  • Support integration of agent-based systems capable of reasoning across enterprise data and orchestrating multi-step workflows

  • Establish monitoring, reliability, and lifecycle management standards for AI-enabled systems operating in business-critical environments

Governance & Enterprise Discipline

  • Governance is embedded into architecture and workflows, ensuring trust without slowing execution.

  • Operationalize a federated governance model with domain accountability

  • Automate metadata capture, lineage tracking, and critical data monitoring

  • Strengthen executive trust in enterprise metrics and AI outputs

  • Reduce duplication and conflicting definitions across business units

  • Ensure regulatory, financial, and operational data integrity

Leadership & Enterprise Influence

  • The Senior Director leads distributed teams across data engineering, data products, and governance, while operating as a strategic partner to executive leadership.

  • Build high-performing teams capable of scaling enterprise data, AI, and automation initiatives

  • Partner directly with Finance and business executives on prioritization and value realization

  • Shape multi-year data, AI, and automation investment strategy

  • Establish performance metrics for platform health, AI deployment success, and operational impact

  • Develop leadership capability that strengthens Weyerhaeuser's long-term digital transformation

  • 12 years of experience leading enterprise data management, governance, or related functions.

  • Proven success building and scaling data product operating models that deliver measurable business results.

  • Experience implementing federated governance models

  • Experience managing and integrating enterprise systems (SAP, ServiceNow and others), industrial telemetry, modern data platforms (Snowflake, dbt, Microsoft Purview), and geospatial systems (ESRI) or their equivalents.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience contributing to the delivery of production AI systems, including traditional predictive AI/ML (forecasting, optimization, classification), Generative AI applications, and exposure to agentic AI systems

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale transformations in complex environments, balancing agility with long-term value delivery.

  • Skilled communicator and change leader, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
