Job Description
The Senior Education & Engagement Director for the Dave and Mary Alper JCC reports to the CEO and serves as a senior leader responsible for the oversight, quality, growth, and success of the organization’s programmatic departments. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Youth Department including, but not limited to, Camp, After School, Special Needs Programs, and ECD (Preschool); Judaic Programming; and Cultural Arts, ensuring alignment with the JCC’s mission, community needs, and organizational priorities. Essential Job Functions Related to Departments Under the Supervision of the Chief Executive Officer: (Youth Department; ECD (Preschool); Judaic Programming; Cultural Arts): Develop and implement strategies, protocols, and business plans that support program growth, enrollment, retention, revenue generation, and mission alignment. Lead, train, and manage the departments supervised in creating a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability, while fostering a culture of giving and working in partnership with the Development Director on program-related fundraising efforts. Oversee budget preparation and management for all supervised departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and adherence to approved department budgets, in coordination with the CEO and Finance team. Set and monitor performance goals, KPIs, and outcomes for supervised departments, promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and measurable results. Facilitate ongoing supervisory meetings with Directors to track performance, address challenges, and ensure strategic programmatic objectives are being met. Track performance, prepare reporting and graphs, and present regular updates to the CEO and Finance team. Support the review, negotiation, and execution of program-related contracts and agreements (including artists, instructors, coaches, and program vendors) in coordination with the CEO and Finance team. Present program performance, metrics, and outcomes to internal leadership, Board committees, and partner organizations as assigned. Serve as lead professional for program-related committees, task forces, and lay-driven initiatives; provide guidance to Directors supervised on leading committees, task forces, and lay-driven initiatives. Serve as an ambassador to the agency at on- and off-campus events; act as a liaison between the JCC, its members, community partners, and stakeholders. Attend on- and off-campus JCC events and community partner events as assigned. Conduct performance evaluations of the Directors supervised, reviewing goals regularly, providing guidance, making adjustments to support success, and developing corrective action plans when necessary. Work closely with the Human Resources Director on staff-related matters, including performance management, coaching, and professional development planning. Maintain responsibility for ongoing written, digital, and in-person communication related to programs and community engagement. Collaborate with Philanthropy on donor engagement efforts connected to programs and mission-driven initiatives. Attend and participate in professional staff meetings as assigned. Seek out and provide professional development opportunities for self and supervised staff, with approval of the CEO and Finance team. Essential Agency-wide Job Functions Expected of the Sr. Management Team: Due to the nature of this position, this role requires flexibility; availability may be required during evenings, weekends, and holidays to support programs, events, and community engagement. Other duties as needed and/or assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Positive attitude and the ability to work well with individuals of varied backgrounds, cultures, levels of observance, levels of physical and cognitive abilities, and financial situations, including but not limited to members, Board members, volunteers, and professionals. Ability to manage challenging situations in a calm, thoughtful, and professional manner. Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and writing skills. Ability to accept direction, work independently, and perform productively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Good judgment, discretion, and the utmost commitment to confidentiality. Diplomacy and patience. Qualifications: B.A. Degree in applicable field. Must hold an active Florida Department of Children and Families Director Credential 3-5 Years of supervisory and programming experience at a JCC or like organization. Solid understanding of staff management, industry specifics, and business strategies. Physical Requirements: Flexibility to bend, sit, and/or squat. The ability to walk all over the campus throughout the day. The ability to spend time outside in the elements including heat and rain. Being able to sit for long periods. Good dexterity and vision for computer usage. The ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly. The ability to lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis. The ability to lift, set up, takedown, stack, and move carts of tables and chairs. Work in bent, twisted, or awkward work posture and stand for more than two hours in a row. The ability to reach both outward and overhead. Ability to work outdoor events.
