Job Description

Position Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Compensation Range: $ 118,000.00 - $131,000.00

Department: Engineer

Location: Lenexa, KS

Responsibilities:

  • Core team member in the development of compliant products for global markets.
  • Leads architectural direction while remaining actively engaged in hands-on circuit design, prototyping, and validation.
  • Generate schematic design, PCB layout design, Bills-Of-Materials, and other documentation to provide a complete electronic design description.
  • Execute and manage internal product testing, evaluating products for compliance design criteria and communicating with 3rd party test laboratories like UL / FM.
  • Owns projects end-to-end and drives engineering solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Product validation and verification testing to ensure product meets required standards (FCC, CE, CSA, UL/cUL, ATEX) and revise designs as needed.
  • Perform design cost optimization and part library maintenance.
  • Exhibit in-depth knowledge of PCB layout design, multi-layer stack-up (including flex and flex-rigid), component footprint creation, and fabrication process.
  • Use design constraints to develop a robust design, such as techniques of DFM, DFA and DFT, methods of ESD mitigation, and requirements for compliance with EMI/EMC and safety testing (FCC, CE, CSA, UL/cUL, ATEX).
  • Work closely with other project team members to ensure the final product performance meets specifications.
  • Design production test fixtures and processes that interface with the product.
  • Conduct analysis to find root cause of hardware or low-level software design issues in existing or new products and generate detailed reports to document the findings and resolutions.
  • Comply with Division and Engineering standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Comply with company policies, operating procedures, and health & safety guidelines.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 10+ of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with compliance standards for hazardous locations, CE, UL508A preferred.
  • Experience with RF module design and compliance testing preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering tools: multi-meter, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, JTAG debuggers, logic analyzer, RF power meter, signal generator, load tester, data logger.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, including 8051 or ARM X architecture.
  • Proficiency with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, USB, SDRAM/FLASH, JTAG, RS-232, RS-485, CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, LVDS, GPIO.
  • Development experience with wireless design using NBIoT / LTE modem, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.
  • Design experience with ESD, EMI and EMC consideration, signal integrity analysis and circuit simulation.
  • Hands-on experience with IoT system design.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with electronics hardware design and PLM tools (examples: Arena, Fusion 360) Altium Design is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of hardware development life cycle (HDLC) with subversion tools like Gitlab, SVN, Bugzilla, Jira, Confluence.
