Job Description

A prominent and multifaceted engineering and design-build organization is on the verge of a significant transition as our tenured Principal Electrical Engineer nears retirement. We are keen to onboard an experienced electrical engineering professional ready to embrace a pivotal leadership position and drive our future growth.

This position is firmly rooted in industrial applications—think major chemical complexes, petrochemical facilities, advanced energy systems, and intricate manufacturing sites where every second counts.

If your passion lies in spending time in both the control room and conducting crucial load analyses, this opportunity is tailored for you.

The Role: Your responsibilities will encompass managing comprehensive industrial electrical projects from inception through completion. You'll perform detailed calculations, lead multidisciplinary teams, and maintain direct client engagement on-site.

Ideal for those seeking leadership and influence, you will oversee:

- Power and lighting distribution designs - Electrical schematic one-line diagrams - Detailed electrical load studies - Short circuit and protective relay studies - Arc flash risk assessments - Defining specifications for power equipment such as transformers and switchgear - Hazardous location classifications and optimal wiring solutions - Creating control schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and loop diagrams - Ensuring robust grounding and lighting infrastructure

You will also spearhead single-discipline projects, providing accurate time estimates, clearly defining scopes, guiding team members, reviewing technical drawings, and maintaining robust client communications. Site visits will be integral, solving real-world challenges and optimizing system performances during installations.

Desired Skills and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution - 12-30 years of substantial experience in industrial electrical engineering - Expertise within chemicals, petrochem, utilities, energy, or manufacturing domains - Comprehensive understanding of NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 30, and relevant safety codes - Proficiency in relay protection and short circuit evaluations - Familiarity with AutoCAD (3D preferred), Revit, Microsoft Office, and EasyPower or comparative design tools - Competence in interpreting and creating P&IDs, PFDs, and other technical diagrams - On-site field experience is essential

Possessing a Professional Engineer (PE) license is advantageous, though motivated individuals aiming for this credential will find supportive pathways in our organization.

Position Perks: This hybrid role requires on-site presence in Akron, Ohio, for at least three days weekly, fostering collaboration within our expert engineering teams. While remote-only options aren't available, relocation aid might be provided based on individual needs.

Perks include potential overnight trips within the U.S., thorough legal authorization arrangements for work within the U.S., including potential H-1B sponsorship for eligible candidates.

Total Compensation: Salary expectations range from $115,000 to $145,000 annually, with eligibility for overtime compensation for hours exceeding a 40-hour workweek. Additional financial incentives include performance-based bonuses and potential sign-on bonuses.

The benefits package encompasses: - 401(k) contributions and possible matching - Profit-sharing opportunities - Inclusive health covers with dental and vision options - FSAs and HSAs - Life insurance policies and both short and long-term disability coverages - Tuition and professional certification financial support - PE registration fees covered and bonuses for earned certifications - Flexible scheduling with hybrid work possibilities and developed career trajectories

Organizational Culture: You will be immersed in a setting that values technical innovation, team collaboration, and lasting professional relationships. Here, the environment is welcoming with an emphasis on learning and mutual growth, where seasoned experts share their knowledge, inspiring problem-solving, and fostering personal advancement.
