About the Role

This role is focused on substation and interconnection design through the MV distribution backbone of our data center campuses and protection schemes.

You will be a technical leader on projects involving utility-scale interconnections at 138kV+, working directly with utilities, ISOs, third-party engineering firms, and equipment manufacturers as well as supporting design for Data Center medium voltage distribution. You'll own the technical quality of our HV/MV designs and help establish the engineering standards that will scale across dozens of sites.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical power system design with a strong focus on HV/MV systems, substations, and/or utility-scale interconnections.

  • Experience in data center or mission-critical MV distribution design.

  • Strong working knowledge of protection coordination principles, relay setups and sequence of operations.

  • Proficiency with SEL, Schneider, Siemens, or ABB relay platforms, digital substations, rugged server and various protection protocols.

  • Proficiency with power systems analysis software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with utility interconnection processes in at least one of the following ISO regions: ERCOT, PJM, MISO, or CAISO.

  • Familiarity with NERC reliability standards and bulk electric system interconnection requirements is a plus.

  • Experience Testing and Commissioning HV/MV systems.

  • Experience with emerging power generation technologies such as fuel cells, on-site generation, or battery energy storage integration at the MV level is a plus.

  • Prior experience at a utility, EPC firm, or hyperscale data center operator (AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft) is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $270,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options.
