About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer, EMI/EMC Design to lead the design, analysis, and validation of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) solutions for advanced defense systems. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure products meet stringent military and industry standards while driving system reliability and compliance throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead EMI/EMC design, analysis, testing, and mitigation efforts for complex electrical systems.
- Develop and implement electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform EMI/EMC testing using industry-standard equipment and analyze test results.
- Support PCB design reviews to ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and EMI/EMC requirements.
- Conduct simulations and analyses using industry-standard modeling tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve EMI/EMC issues through design improvements and validation testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure compliance with military and commercial standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in EMI/EMC design and testing.
- Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and regulations, including:
- MIL-STD-461G
- MIL-STD-464D
- RTCA DO-160
- FCC
- IEC
- CISPR
- SAE
- Proven expertise in:
- Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
- HERO
- HEMP
- Lightning Protection
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
- RF Exposure Limits
- Operational Electromagnetic Compatibility
- Experience using EMI/EMC test equipment, including:
- Spectrum Analyzers
- Oscilloscopes
- Antennas
- Line Impedance Stabilization Networks (LISNs)
- Experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS and CST Microwave Studio.
- Strong understanding of PCB layout techniques for electrical, mechanical, EMI/EMC, and manufacturing requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and apply sound engineering design practices.
- Familiarity with standard interfaces such as:
- MIPI
- DisplayPort (DP)
- I2C
- SPI
- PCIe
- USB
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability electronic systems.
- Experience leading EMI/EMC compliance efforts from design through certification.
- Familiarity with military acquisition programs and defense industry development processes.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance is a plus.
