Senior Electrical Engineer - PE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team in Downers Grove, IL. Responsibilities

• Review existing industrial power systems to determine support for capital expansion projects.
• Coordinate power usage studies and prepare load studies.
• Design and supervise electrical power and controls bid package drawings, including 480VAC and 120VAC single line diagrams and electrical power and control plan layouts.
• Prepare electrical and controls scopes of work documents for bid packages.
• Coordinate with local utility for power service, transformer, and substation upgrades.
• Specify transformers, conductors, busway, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
• Review and approve new equipment electrical requirements, including power load, circuit breaker sizing, data communication, ethernet, grounding, and machine safety.
• Collaborate with third-party PLC programmers and control panel designers for I/O drawing preparation and panel design and fabrication.
• Review and approve I/O drawings, control panel, and VFD panel designs.
• Assist with machine safety audits in collaboration with third-party machine safety partners.

Skills and Knowledge

• Familiarity with NEC and industrial installations.
• Ability to gather information for arc flash studies, typically conducted by others.
• Basic understanding of PLC programming.
• Knowledge of VFD's, HMI's, PLC types, I/O card types, and Remote I/O modules.

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8 years of relevant design experience.
• Preferred project management/construction management experience.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in AutoCAD is a plus.
• Ability to travel 20-30% of the time.
