Job Description

We are seeking a high-level Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to serve as the primary subject matter expert for the electrical power infrastructure of our new, large-scale manufacturing complex. This role owns the safety, reliability, and capacity of sophisticated power systems—including high-voltage distribution (up to 12.4kV), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and emergency generation.

Based initially at our Tempe headquarters with a transition to the Peoria, AZ flagship factory, you will bridge the gap between initial infrastructure design and 24/7 operational maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Power System Stewardship

  • Distribution & Reliability: Manage the Electrical Load Database to ensure distribution sources maintain the necessary redundancy and capacity for future factory expansion.

  • Maintenance & Operations: Develop and own the documentation for PM job plans, operating procedures, and troubleshooting specifications for transformers, generators, and battery systems.

  • Safety & Risk Mitigation: Conduct and review Arc Flash Analysis, electrical coordination studies, and ground fault assessments to mitigate site risk.

  • Real-Time Monitoring: Oversee power consumption and equipment health in real-time via the central control room to ensure system stability.

Technical Leadership & Hook-Up

  • Design & Analysis: Perform complex load calculations and select appropriate feeders to support high-precision production equipment.

  • Tool Hook-Up: Lead the electrical matrix review for production equipment, managing everything from bidding documents and on-site supervision to final equipment handover.

  • Training & Guidance: Provide advanced troubleshooting support and safety training for field electricians, particularly regarding high-voltage switching and safe work practices.

Strategic Coordination

  • Utility Liaison: Coordinate directly with electrical utility providers on load management, grid stability, and planned downtime.

  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all repairs, modifications, and installations meet OEM standards, AHJ codes, and environmental requirements.

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead deep-dive investigations into any electrical system failures to implement permanent corrective actions.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Professional Tenure: Minimum of 3 years of post-education experience as an Electrical Engineer, with at least 3 years focused specifically on infrastructure maintenance.

  • Technical Mastery: Extensive knowledge of high-voltage industrial power systems, infrastructure design, and electrical construction laws/codes.

  • Critical Thinking: Proven ability to reach logical conclusions through data collation, statistical analysis, and testing results.

  • Physical Capability: Ability to safely climb ladders, work at elevations (scaffolding/lifts), and navigate confined spaces.

Preferred Assets:

  • Industry Background: Previous experience in a semiconductor, electric utility, or advanced manufacturing environment.

  • Multi-Disciplinary Knowledge: Familiarity with adjacent systems such as mechanical, controls, or chemical distribution.

  • Facility Optimization: Experience managing cleanroom utility equipment and energy-saving initiatives.
