Are you driven by the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and complex projects around the world and to learn from the best? We are.

Diversity is at the core of everything we do. We work together to create a culture based on respect, trust, and inclusiveness. Our differences are what fuel our creativity.

What will you do?

As an Intermediate to Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be focused on the mechanical engineering and modelling of data centre backup power fuel systems.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams locally and offshore, you will apply sound engineering judgement, Aurecon's values, and New Zealand design standards to deliver practical, sustainable, and client-focused solutions. This role supports Aurecon's commitment to bringing ideas to life, creating positive outcomes for communities, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing global workforce.

As a Mechanical Engineer, the scope of work and role will be as follows:

  • Design fuel storage, distribution, and transfer piping systems for backup power applications.
  • Develop and maintain Revit models for mechanical and piping systems.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure loss calculations, and pump selection.
  • Produce coordinated spatial layouts and resolve design clashes with other disciplines.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and engineering calculations.
  • Support compliance with relevant fuel storage and piping standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project teams throughout project delivery.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to project stakeholders.

We know today's complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business, so there will be opportunities for you to apply your skills and creativity to projects in other geographies and markets.

What can you bring to the team?

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need the following:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical or piping engineering.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Relevant modelling and design software proficiency, particularly Revit.
  • Proven experience in oil & gas, fuel systems, or industrial piping design.
  • Experience in piping layout and detailed engineering design.
  • Demonstrated capability in hydraulic analysis, pipe sizing, and pump sizing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles and constructability.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and experience working in virtual environments.
  • Experience with backup fuel systems in data centers, hospitals, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards is a plus such as:
  • AS 1940
  • NFPA 30
  • API Standards
  • ASME B31 Series
  • Experience working with steel pressure piping systems.

Individually and collectively, they unleash the true power of Aurecon, they make us stand out from the crowd and are critical to our success. We don't expect you to have all eight of the attributes, but one that is unique to you.

We value that each of our team members brings something different to Aurecon. We look for people who have had a broad range of experiences throughout their career and can demonstrate how they have worked as part of a team to bring ideas to life. Does that sound like you?
