What we do at Weir

Our planet's future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

The Senior Engineer plays a key role in delivering innovative tailings and pipeline solutions that make a real impact for customers and the resources sector. Working across consultancy and R&D projects, you'll turn complex test data into high‑quality, practical designs while collaborating closely with a supportive engineering team.

You'll contribute to a culture that values safety, precision, continuous learning, and shared success-where thoughtful analysis, teamwork, and innovation are encouraged and recognised.

What you'll do

  • Lead consultancy and R&D projects aligned to customer needs, delivering high‑quality, innovative technical solutions.
  • Execute projects through data analysis, process design (separation, dewatering, pipelines, backfill), and clear technical reporting.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary client contact, managing relationships and ensuring project scope, quality, and delivery expectations are met.
  • Ensure SHEQ compliance and a safety‑first culture while delivering practical solutions on time, primarily based at the Weir Technical Centre.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What you'll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Process, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Metallurgical) with exposure to rheology, hydraulics, or particulate solids transport.
  • 5-10 years' engineering experience within mining, minerals processing, or related industries, particularly across separation, dewatering, or solids transport systems.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex technical data and translate findings into practical, fit‑for‑purpose engineering solutions.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of process equipment such as pumps, cyclones, centrifuges, and thickeners.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CAD, and professional report writing and presentations.
  • Postgraduate qualifications, Chartered Engineer status, team leadership experience, or programming capability (e.g. VBA or C++) will be highly regarded.
