Job Description
The City of Bowie is seeking a motivated and dependable individual for the position of Senior Equipment Operator in the Stormwater Management and Utilities Division. The successful candidate will perform a variety of construction, maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal activities throughout the City. This individual must be knowledgeable of all rules and precautions required for the safe and efficient operation of specialized heavy equipment, including backhoes, loaders, tractors, commercial mowing equipment, and truck-mounted snowplows.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Two years of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Possession of a valid Maryland Class A Restricted Commercial Driver's License.
- Experience performing heavy manual labor in a construction, maintenance, landscaping, or related environment.
- Knowledge of trench safety and confined space entry procedures.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
- Commercial mowing experience.
- Experience performing semi-skilled construction or maintenance work.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely use standard hand and power tools.
PAY RATE: $26.84 per hour
