Senior Estimator (High-End Residential Construction)

Essex Homes is a leading residential semi-custom home builder based in western New York. We specialize in delivering high quality, thoughtfully designed homes with an emphasis on craftsmanship, customer service and efficiency. We are looking for a seasoned Senior Estimator to join our dedicated team.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in the pre-construction process, preparing accurate cost estimates for residential semi-custom homes. This individual will work closely with our design, sales and construction teams using Buildertrend software to manage estimates and streamline workflows

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for semi-custom residential home projects based on architectural plans, specifications, and design options.
• Collaborate with the design and sales team to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of proposals.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
• Maintain and update cost databases within Buildertrend to reflect current market pricing and vendor rates.
• Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design integrity.
• Provide support for budgeting, change order pricing and contract negotiations.
• Continue to build out the Buildertrend software package to improve internal efficiencies.

Qualifications:

• 5 or more years of residential estimating experience in custom or semi-custom homebuilding.
• Proficiency in Buildertrend or similar construction software applications and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required
• Strong knowledge of residential construction materials, methods, and market pricing
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
• Possess the ability and the desire to take on the additional responsibility of managing a small estimating team
