Job Description

Senior Legal Case Evaluation Specialist

Personal Injury & Workers' Compensation

Chicago, IL | $150,000–$200,000 | Senior-Level Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced legal professional to play a critical role in evaluating prospective Personal Injury and Workers' Compensation cases and determining which matters our firm should pursue.

This is not an entry level intake, administrative, or legal support position.

We are looking for someone with a sophisticated understanding of plaintiff-side Personal Injury and/or Workers' Compensation litigation who can quickly identify valuable cases, recognize potential complications, and exercise the judgment necessary to make informed case-selection recommendations.

This opportunity may be particularly attractive to an experienced plaintiff-side attorney who enjoys evaluating cases and working directly with clients but no longer wants the demands of active litigation.

The Opportunity

New case evaluation is one of the most important functions within our practice. We handle a significant volume of prospective matters and need an experienced professional capable of making sound, timely assessments.

This individual will serve as a critical point of contact for prospective clients, evaluating potential claims and helping ensure we pursue the right opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate a high volume of prospective Personal Injury and Workers' Compensation matters.
  • Assess liability, injury severity, damages, insurance coverage, medical treatment, and overall case viability.
  • Identify high-value cases, potential obstacles, and matters that may not warrant representation.
  • Recognize additional causes of action, responsible parties, third-party liability, and potential referral opportunities.
  • Conduct substantive conversations with prospective clients to obtain critical facts and assess potential claims.
  • Exercise independent judgment while communicating case evaluations and recommendations to our attorneys and leadership.
  • Ensure valuable cases are identified, prioritized, and advanced efficiently through our intake process.

Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in professionals with substantial experience handling or evaluating plaintiff-side Personal Injury and/or Workers' Compensation cases.

Preferred Background may include:

  • Former or practicing plaintiff-side PI/WC attorneys interested in transitioning away from active litigation.
  • Highly experienced legal professionals with extensive involvement in case evaluation, case selection, and injury litigation.
  • Senior-level plaintiff-side professionals who have developed exceptional judgment regarding liability, damages, and case value.

Qualifications

  • Significant, substantive experience in plaintiff-side Personal Injury and/or Workers' Compensation.
  • Strong understanding of what makes a case viable, valuable, and worth pursuing.
  • Ability to recognize complex liability issues, significant injuries, insurance considerations, and potential additional claims.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to operate efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced legal environment.
  • Sound professional judgment and the confidence to make recommendations on prospective matters.

A law degree is highly desirable but not required for individuals with exceptional relevant experience.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
