Job Summary
The Senior Manager of Infection Control for Wentworth Douglass Hospital and Healthcare at Home is responsible for the day-to-day implementation, management, and oversight, of the Infection Prevention functions of Wentworth Douglass Hospital and Healthcare at Home. The Senior Manager, reporting to the Director of Infection Control at MGB must have knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control principles and practice, the ability to make evidence-based decisions, exceptional problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Because this is a managerial role in an active change management environment, the Senior Manager of Infection Control will need to demonstrate flexibility and open mindedness as the contours of this position will actively evolve over time.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision and in collaboration with the MGB Director of Infection Control, the Senior Manager, Infection Control will:
Implement at the site-level, system infection prevention and control goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, regulatory/legal requirements and objectives of the organization.
Ensure implementation of site surveillance, remediation, and reporting of infections, including outbreak detection and response.
Plan, organize, and manage all site-specific activities related to infection prevention and control staffing, with 2-4 direct reports. They will ensure that the productivity and actions of the site team meets and supports operational goals.
Support continuous improvement of infection prevention and control practices.
Function as a site liaison to regulatory agencies and public health authorities and serve as representative on external committees as needed.
Assist in preparation of budgets and ensures compliance with allocated funding.
Evaluate the site-specific infection control program by identifying strategies that address the risk of infection transmission.
Oversee site-specific educational efforts related to infection prevention and control
Implement, in collaboration with MGB Occupational Health Services, policies and procedures to assess, mitigate, and respond to occupational infection risk.
Collaborate with other site-specific stakeholders (e.g., Environmental Health and Safety, Compliance, etc.) as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Infection Control, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics preferred; Masters in Healthcare Management or another relevant field is acceptable.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
- Prior experience in a complex academic health center strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience required; greater than 10 years related work experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role in Infection Control strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in regulatory and other requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control implementation of CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance and other surveillance for healthcare associated infections application of commonly used performance metrics including Vizient, Leapfrog, CMS, others
Special Requirements
- Must be available to work in the case of a facility-declared emergency.
- Must be available to assist during regulatory agency reviews.
