Job Description

About the role

The Senior Manager, Revenue and Billing will be responsible for overseeing the entire billing function within our organization. This role involves managing a team, developing and implementing billing strategies, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing and collection of invoices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in billing operations and team leadership.

What you’ll do as a Senior Manager, Revenue and Billing

  • Billing Operations: Manage the entire billing process for 5,000+ customers, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing for both recurring SaaS subscriptions and one-off hardware sales.
  • Revenue Recognition: Own the month-end and quarter-end revenue close process, preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue analytics.
  • ASC 606 Compliance: Ensure all software and hardware revenue is recognized accurately under ASC 606 guidelines, managing multiple performance obligations and complex deal structures.
  • Collections Management: Oversee the accounts receivable process, implementing strategies to reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), minimize bad debt, and optimize cash flow.
  • Systems Management: Act as the subject matter expert for revenue systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation between Salesforce (CRM), NetSuite (ERP) and Maxio.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate tightly with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk teams to review non-standard contracts and advise on the revenue accounting implications of various deal structures.
  • Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the order-to-cash process and implement scalable solutions to accommodate future revenue growth.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong understanding of high-volume billing systems and processes, with a proven track record of managing invoicing and collections for an active base of 5,000+ customers, demonstrating the ability to drive process improvements
  • Proficiency with ERPs and CRMs (e.g. NetSuite and Salesforce), demonstrating the ability to drive the implementation and optimization of billing technologies to support rapid growth and high transactional volume
  • Proven ability to lead and develop distributed or remote teams of billing and collections professionals to successfully manage large-scale accounts at an enterprise volume
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Finance, Sales, and Customer Success to resolve complex billing issues at scale

Nice to haves

  • Experience in PowerBI or similar tools
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience in AR automation tools (Maxio, Tesorio, HighRadius, Quadient)
  • Knowledge of ASC Revenue 606

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in billing operations, with at least 4 years in a leadership role

  • Ability to listen and speak over the phone or Zoom calls
  • High level of mental concentration and focus

Compensation

The annual base compensation range for this position is $140,000 - $175,000. The reasonably estimated total cash compensation range for this full-time position is $157,500 – $201,250.

Actual compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to: job-related skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Crunchtime has a location-based compensation system, so someone doing the same job in a different city might have a different pay range.
