Job Description
Quality Technology Services ("QTS") Data Centers is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to work from our Overland Park, KS Headquarters location. QTS is a leading provider of data center solutions across a diverse footprint spanning more than 9 million square feet of QTS Mega Data Centers throughout North America and Europe. QTS is a Blackstone REIT Portfolio company.
SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting is primarily responsible for the preparation and oversight of QTS' consolidated financial statement reporting, debt compliance reporting and technical accounting support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Other duties may be assigned.
Manage the preparation and review of financial statements (both QTS consolidated and stand-alone entities), footnotes, and related disclosures for external reporting purposes, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Manage the Company's debt compliance reporting to ensure all required financial information and covenant calculations are provided accurately and timely to lending institutions.
Technical accounting research and transaction support.
Provide technical accounting guidance to resolve accounting and reporting issues, ensuring proper application of accounting standards.
Stay abreast of emerging accounting pronouncements and assess their potential impact on the business.
Assist in management of the Company's lease portfolio as lessee.
Assist in management of the Company's share-based compensation expense.
Lead and manage a team of financial reporting professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
Assist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditors.
Use accounting concepts, reporting experience, and analytical skills to resolve questions/issues in efficient and effective ways.
Proactively identify issues and areas for improvement while establishing and maintaining effective controls over financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of reported financial information.
Support ad hoc financial reporting requests as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Five or more years of relevant accounting and/or financial reporting experience
Advanced Excel experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, as well as experience with technical accounting research
One or more years of management experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master's degree in Accounting
Three or more years of public accounting experience
Eight or more years of relevant accounting and/or financial reporting experience
Experience with IFRS accounting and reporting
Past experience includes increasingly progressive responsibility at a large company
Experience with financial reporting platforms such as Wdesk
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical/technical skills and experience analyzing and interpreting financial data
Experience partnering with a diverse group of stakeholders and managing to results
Detail oriented; reviewing team members' work to ensure accurate and timely work product
Ability to research GAAP accounting standards, document conclusions and communicate effectively across accounting and non-accounting stakeholders
Proven leadership and management proficiency
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization
Professional agility - flexibility to adapt to changing needs of the department and to various changes in priorities
Sound organizational skills necessary to multi-task projects of varying duration and ad-hoc data requests
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work extended hours as needed
