Job Description
The Senior Manager of Single Cell Biology leads the operational execution of multi‑platform laboratory services, overseeing managers and technical staff to ensure high‑quality, efficient support for complex research projects. This role translates strategic priorities into actionable operational plans, coordinating personnel, resources, and timelines while developing comprehensive training and professional development programs for staff at all levels. Acting as a key liaison across teams and stakeholders, the Senior Manager drives effective communication, collaboration, and project execution, while also managing budgets, inventory, and resource planning. Through strong leadership and continuous improvement of workflows, this role advances the laboratory’s scientific capabilities and ensures alignment between staff development, project delivery, and broader organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of scientists and research associates; build organizational capabilities and succession pipelines.
- Oversee design, optimization, and execution of single‑cell, spatial, and high‑content biology workflows to support discovery and translational programs.
- Drive strategic planning for platform expansion, technology evaluation, and process scalability.
- Own tactical coordination for multi-assay or large-scale projects, working in partnership with Senior Leadership and other areas of the organization.
- Manage complex project portfolios, resource allocation, timelines, and cross‑functional communication.
- Ensure operational excellence through robust SOPs, quality systems, safety compliance, and laboratory best practices. Identify and implement operational improvements to laboratory workflows, throughput, and quality
- Present scientific insights and platform updates to senior leadership and contribute to program‑level decision‑making.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven leadership managing multi‑level scientific staff (technicians through managers) with a strong track record in structured training, mentorship, and performance management.
- Advanced operational planning skills across diverse assay platforms and lab sites, including autonomous oversight of budgets, inventory, and resource allocation.
- Ability to translate strategic scientific direction into coordinated, cross‑platform operational execution; broad understanding of core laboratory competencies and adjacent scientific services.
- Deep expertise in RNA biology, single‑cell profiling platforms, and spatial transcriptomic/proteomic assays, supported by 10+ years of experience in molecular and single‑cell biology within biotech or pharmaceutical R&D.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent, high‑impact decisions under tight timelines, with strong troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills for navigating complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience handling and interpreting complex biological data, ensuring scientific rigor while maintaining a proactive, organized, and flexible leadership approach.
Education: Master's Degree required/ PhD preferred
Experience: 4 years required/ 6 years preferred
Supervisory: 4 years required/ 6 years preferred
Pay Range:$98885 - $165554
