The Senior Manager, Sustainability & Social Impact leads the execution and evolution of Vita Coco's 2030 sustainability and social impact roadmap, overseeing programs across carbon reduction, packaging circularity, responsible sourcing, community initiatives, and ESG governance. They will report to the VP, Sustainability & Social Impact and required to work in our NYC HQ 3-days a week.
Program Strategy, Social Governance & Execution
- Lead execution and further development of Vita Coco's sustainability and social impact 2030 roadmap and strategy, translating enterprise goals into actionable cross-functional programs across carbon reduction, packaging circularity, water, responsible sourcing governance, and coconut community resilience.
- Own and strengthen social governance systems across the supply chain, including oversight of Supplier Code of Conduct implementation, working closely with QA SMETA-aligned social audits, corrective action tracking, and supplier risk assessments.
- Partner closely with Operations to integrate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) best practices at manufacturing and co-manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance, worker safety, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and evolve supply chain social accountability frameworks that improve transparency, resiliency, and risk mitigation.
- Manage flagship initiatives including The Vita Coco Project, Seedlings for Sustainability, and The Vita Coco Community Foundation, ensuring measurable outcomes and alignment with company priorities (including the 10 million seedlings commitment).
- Oversee Foundation grantmaking, partner coordination, and impact tracking.
- Integrate double materiality findings into strategy, governance and policy development to reduce enterprise ESG risk.
- Serve as internal subject matter expert on ESG processes, systems, and reporting; build business cases demonstrating ROI, cost savings, and risk avoidance.
ESG Data & Systems
- Lead ESG data strategy, ensuring accuracy, audit readiness, and centralized governance across energy, carbon (Scopes 1-3), waste, water, packaging, and community investment.
- Manage carbon accounting (HowGood) and develop decarbonization roadmaps aligned with operational and sourcing priorities.
- Partner with Operations, Innovation, and Supply Chain to track packaging footprints, renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, and supplier performance through integrated scorecards.
- Identify data gaps and design improved measurement and verification processes.
- Support B Corp recertification and continuous score improvement across markets.
Reporting, Disclosure & Compliance
- Oversee ESG disclosures for regulatory, investor, retailer, and voluntary reporting (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, CDP, EcoVadis, MSCI, ISS).
- Ensure social compliance data (SMETA audits, corrective actions, EHS metrics, Supplier Code adherence) is integrated into reporting and governance processes.
- Manage and evolve the company's ESG impact scorecard.
- Support emerging ESG regulations and coordinate global compliance efforts.
- Support preparation of the annual Impact Report and partner with Communications to translate ESG performance into clear, credible narratives.
Qualifications
- 5-9+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, supply chain governance, or related fields.
- Direct experience with SMETA audits, Supplier Codes of Conduct, corrective action management, and supply chain social accountability programs required.
- Strong familiarity with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) practices in operational or manufacturing environments required.
- Deep knowledge of ESG disclosure frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, CDP) and data platforms (HowGood, EcoVadis, Workiva).
- Demonstrated expertise in GHG accounting across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, and experience working with Latis, HowGood's sustainability intelligence platform.
- Proven cross-functional leadership and project management skills; experience influencing operational teams strongly preferred.
- Experience in regenerative agriculture and nonprofit/community partnerships preferred.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate technical ESG topics clearly.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Comfortable collaborating across global time zones as needed.

A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
