Job Description

Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Grid Integration Engineering will provide technical and operational leadership across Invenergy's generation, transmission, and large-load development portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, Grid Integration Engineering, this role will be responsible for coordinating engineering activities associated with grid-code compliance, advanced power system studies, large-load interconnections, and transmission integration initiatives.

The position will serve as the day-to-day leader of the Grid Integration Engineering team and act as a key interface between Development, Interconnection, Grid Modeling, Engineering, Operations, OEMs, consultants, utilities, and system operators. The role will support project execution from early-stage development through commercial operation while ensuring compliance with evolving grid-performance requirements.

This position requires strong technical expertise in power systems, interconnection processes, grid-code compliance, and advanced system modeling, combined with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.

Responsibilities

Grid-Code Compliance and Advanced Modeling

Support development and implementation of grid-code compliance strategies across generation and large-load projects. Coordinate technical activities associated with IEEE 2800-2022, IEEE P2800.2, NERC reliability standards, and ISO/RTO-specific requirements. Review and evaluate dynamic, RMS, and EMT modeling studies and validation reports. Coordinate with the Grid Modeling team to ensure consistency of modeling assumptions, methodologies, and model quality standards.

Support OEM model governance, model validation, and technical issue resolution.

Review and provide technical guidance on interconnection study results and mitigation requirements.

Generation and Large-Load Interconnection Engineering

Coordinate engineering support for generation and large-load interconnection projects across multiple ISOs, RTOs, and utilities. Support development of engineering strategies for data centers and other large electrical loads. Coordinate utility, consultant, and OEM interactions associated with interconnection studies and technical due diligence activities. Develop and maintain repeatable engineering frameworks, requirements, and best practices. Support technical reviews of facility studies, system impact studies, and other interconnection deliverables.

Team Leadership and Project Coordination

Provide day-to-day leadership of the Grid Integration Engineering team. Prioritize workload and allocate resources across multiple projects. Develop engineering processes, standards, and best practices. Support recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of engineering staff. Coordinate activities across Development, Interconnection, Engineering, Operations, Transmission, and Grid Modeling organizations. Support preparation of technical presentations and executive-level communications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electric power systems, transmission planning, interconnection, power system studies, renewable generation, HVDC, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of power system dynamics, interconnection processes, and grid-code requirements.

  • Experience reviewing or managing studies using PSSE, PSCAD, TSAT, PSLF, PowerFactory, or equivalent tools.

  • Experience working with utilities, ISOs, RTOs, OEMs, and engineering consultants.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects involving multiple stakeholders.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience with IEEE 2800 -2022, NERC reliability standards, and inverter-based resource integration.

  • Experience with EMT modeling and model validation.

  • Experience supporting large-load or data-center interconnection projects.

  • Experience supporting HVDC, FACTS, or other advanced transmission technologies.

Base Pay

175,000.00 - 205,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 25% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
