The position offers opportunities for travel and relocation, and we’re seeking candidates who are open to this flexibility. Please note that the role is not based in Chicago. Our Commissioning division partners with clients across data centers and mission-critical environments to validate that systems are designed, installed, and performing at the highest level. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer who brings deep technical expertise, field leadership, and the ability to drive outcomes in high-performance environments.

What You will Do

Project Leadership & Execution • Lead commissioning activities across the full lifecycle • Execute functional testing, witness testing, and system validation • Manage assignments within schedule, budget, and quality expectations Technical Expertise & Problem Solving • Evaluate HVAC, chillers, boilers, pumps, and automation systems • Troubleshoot system performance issues • Review design documentation Client Engagement • Lead meetings and communicate findings • Build relationships with clients and contractors Operational Contributions • Complete reports and manage time and expenses Team Development • Mentor junior engineers and support training

What You Bring

Core Qualifications • Degree in HVACR, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field • 7+ years experience or 3+ years commissioning • Data center experience required Technical Capabilities • Experience with HVAC, controls, automation, fire safety systems • Ability to read construction documents Professional Skills • Strong communication and problem-solving skills Physical Requirements • Ability to work in field environments and lift 30 lbs Preferred • EIT, CEM, OSHA 30, BIM experience

Travel Requirements

Travel to project sites as needed based on project demands.
