A growing custom machinery manufacturer is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of automation equipment and specialized metalworking machinery. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing complete machine systems, improving existing equipment, and supporting projects from concept through build and testing.

This opportunity offers a highly collaborative environment where engineering, manufacturing, assembly, programming, and testing are all completed in-house. Engineers have the ability to see their designs come to life on the production floor while working on a wide variety of custom automation and CNC-related projects.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

Design custom automation systems and specialized metalworking machineryDevelop machine layouts, assemblies, and detailed mechanical designsModify and improve existing equipment designsPerform engineering calculations including loads, torque analysis, and design validationSupport quoting, project management, and customer communication effortsCollaborate closely with manufacturing and assembly teams throughout machine buildsProvide technical sales and application support when needed

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of SolidWorks design experienceStrong background in mechanical machine designExperience designing equipment within a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of CNC lathes, mills, machining centers, or metalworking equipment is highly preferredAbility to develop creative engineering solutions and troubleshoot complex mechanical systemsStrong understanding of mechanical calculations and design integrity principlesExcellent communication and organizational skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
